- September 4, 2010 - Wilson Farm Family Day - The Cumberland Trail will open the Head of Sequatchie on September 4, 2010 for Wilson Family Day. Family day is a huge event in the Sequatchie Valley with games for the kids, food, live music and much more. Everyone is welcome to attend family day at the E.G. Wilson farm. Any park visitors must ride the family day tours to enter the Head of Sequatchie; park will not be open to drive in visitors.
See the Friends of the Cumberland Trail website for more information.
- October 2, 2010 - Rock/Creek Stump Jump -
Come run the premiere 50K trail race in the Southeast. Taking place on a beautiful dirt-packed trail with Tennessee
mountain stone thrown in, and with a 5000+ ft. elevation gain, the Rock/Creek Stump Jump 50K benefits the Cumberland
Trail Conference, a non-profit working to complete a 300+ mile long recreational trail running along the Cumberland
Plateau. Looking for a shorter race on the same beautiful trail? You're in luck! There will be an 11 Mile course offered as
well.
Not a Participant of the Stump Jump 50k but you believe in the cause? Donate to the beneficiary in Chattanooga, TN (The
Cumberland Trail Conference)
Registration and fee required in order to run.
- October 30, 2010 - Fall Foilage Day at Head of Sequatchie and Black Mountain Hike - 9:00 am CST Have you ever wanted to get out and just enjoy the fall colors? If you have please park rangers and naturalists as The Cumberland Trail State Scenic Trail opens the Head of Sequatchie on October 30, 2010 at 9 am CST. Join Ranger Anthony Jones as he leads a hike into the woods of the Sequatchie Valley to enjoy the beautiful colors of fall. This is a great way to enjoy the day with a short hike, to learn the trees that put off such beautiful colors. For some reason you cant make it to the Head of Sequatchie, Park Manager Ken Mathews will be leading a fall colors hike on beautiful Black Mountain at 1 pm CST. This will be a very beautiful hike with views of all over Cumberland and surrounding counties.
See the Friends of the Cumberland Trail website for more information.
- November 13, 2010 - Upchuck 50k Trail Running Race - The Boonies and Rock/Creek present the 2nd official UPCHUCK 50K. The event consists of a point-to-point trail that runs
entirely on the technically challenging single track of the Cumberland Trail.
This course has huge climbs and huge descents into Soddy Creek, Possum Creek and Rock Creek. It will, without a
doubt, go down in the race log as one of the best 50k courses you will ever do. Please do not attempt this run as your first
50K. This is a serious endeavor and will quite possibly be your slowest 50k to date.
Let us reiterate: this is seriously difficult.
Not UP for the Upchuck, but you believe in the cause? Please consider making a donation to the beneficiaries: The
Cumberland Trail Conference and The Wilderness Trail Running Association
Registration and fee required in order to run.
- November 14 - 17, 2010 - 20th American Trails National Symposium - The American Trails National Symposium is your best opportunity to network with the nationwide trails community and learn state of the art trail planning, development, and management techniques. The Symposium addresses both nonmotorized and motorized issues and our vision for trails and greenways nationwide. Dozens of speakers and keynote
presenters will join us from the trails community across America, November 14-17, 2010. We also provide great
opportunities for Sponsors as well as Exhibitors.
