New CTC Office Manager – Please make Teresa Kemmer feel welcome as our new Office Manager. Stop in to the office a say “Hello” or drop her an email. Teresa come to us with a wide range of experiences, including bookkeeping and cash flow management. The CTC is an organization that is strung out along 300 miles of Tennessee, so it is a daunting job just to learn all the players, place names and terminology. Marianne Mailhiot has move to other endeavors. Great thanks to Marianne for her work over the two years that the CTC reorganized. A task she handled with grace and determination.
BreakAway / Alternative Spring Break – The premier volunteer event of the CTC for the past 22 years is our gathering of over 150 college students to push the trail forward. ASB runs from Sunday, March 4 to Saturday March 31. Please contact the CTC Office if you would like to participate. One day, three days or a week at a time!
This year base camp will be in Ozone Falls in Cumberland County. The work area will be on the long awaited link between Black Mountain northeast to Ozone Falls State Park on US70.
Participating schools include U of Delaware, U of Boulder, Butler, U of South Florida, Pitt, Michigan, Boston, Florida International and the U of South Florida.
Master Trail Builder and Mechanized Course Dates – The nationally recognized four day Trail Master course will be held again in the Head of Sequatchie State Park on February 11-15. Followed by Mechanized Trail Building February 16-17. Plan on arriving Sunday evening for the Trail Master Course. Cost is $200 each course. A reduced rate made possible by a grant provided to the CTC. The Mechanized Course has a prerequisite of the Trail Master course first. Accommodations and meals available. Contact the CTC Office to be placed on a wait list at email@example.com or 931-456-6259
Closing the Gaps ! Black Mountain to Ozone Falls – After remaining dormant for ten years all the land has been acquired, permits issues, contracts signed and the roughly six mile link to Ozone Falls can be completed! CTC paid crew and volunteers returned in 2016 to the End Of Trail that last saw work in 2008 during BreakAway. They push out about 3/4 of a mile to the end of state property. Now, with a acquisition of a new tract of land, work can go full speed toward the falls.
Our crews love company and volunteer help. Contact the CTC Office at firstname.lastname@example.org or 931-456-6259. Work locations change. The office can direct you to a good meeting place each week.
See you on the trail !
