American Hiking Society and Clemson University send volunteers to the CT . . . many thanks for their work and enthusiasm !
In September twelve volunteers from the American Hiking Society made their way to Crab Orchard in Cumberland County to work with our paid crew. During the week they built 1,613 feet of trail in the new section south of Devil’s Breakfast Table toward Peavine Road.
The new six mile segment will include a back country camp site on the west bank of Daddys Creek.
The segment includes a 185 foot elevation gain through a gap in the bluff using a stair case made of 327 stone steps.
Then on October 13 seven volunteers from Clemson University joined our regular trail crew . . . .
Over three days they helped add another 600 + feet to the trail.
The pay off for this new section of the CT is at least three overlooks down into Daddys Creek gorge, a waterfall and the now infamous 327 steps.
Great thanks to all who volunteer with the CTC. Progress on the trail is not possible without volunteer contributions of time, effort and money.
If you or your group would like to join the CTC trail crew any time during the year, contact the CTC office to make arrangements. Accommodations can be arranged. At email@example.com or 931-456-6259
