Today we feature photographer Ron Durant and his b

Today we feature photographer Ron Durant and his beautiful capture of Ozone Falls (16”x24” Canvas). This is just one of two pieces of his work that will be available at Wildflowers & Wonders Art Auction on April 29th.

Ron has a passion for Nature Photography. 40+ Years in the field photographing Waterfalls, Sunrise and Sunset, Scenic Vistas and Wildlife.

Currently Ron resides in Crossville, Tn. The Cumberland Trail has become his main hiking destination. Spending much time at Laurel Snow State Natural Area and Roaring Creek Trailhead. He favors the more rugged locations that allow him to find unique compositions. Living in Crossville allows Ron to be central to many beautiful locations on the Cumberland Plateau.

Come volunteer with us and help build the Cumberland Trail!

When: April 14th & 15th @ 9:00am eastern
Where: Laurel Snow
Meet up at: Dayton Welcome Center. Physical address is 107 Main Street, Dayton, TN 37321. From here we will carpool to trailhead off of Hwy 30 as there is limited parking.

Tools will be provided. Please bring work gloves, dress appropriately for weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water.

Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Please meet crew by 9:00am ET at the Dayton Welcome Center
The workday will be from 9:00am to 3:30-4:00pm.

Today we are featuring artist Geneva Andrews as we gear up for Wildflowers & Wonders Art Auction on April 29th. "Box Canyon" (Laurel Falls), 11x14, cardboard collage in shadow box frame will be available to bid on at the event.

“I am a transplant to Rhea County from Missouri. My husband and I “discovered” the area as liveaboard boaters in the late 90’s and moved here in 2008. I retired from a career in custom photographic printing and my educational background includes an English Lit degree and post-grad studies in biology and art. The landscape in East Tennessee is a year-round source of inspiration for my art – from plants and insects to rivers and mountains. In the forest and wildflower patch directly behind my house every day brings something new to explore.”

@cumberlandtrailstatepark Ranger Dalton Miller talks about the hemlock woolly adelgid. This is a destructive pest that threatens the Eastern Hemlock. It feeds by sucking sap from the limbs of the trees. As of 2015, 90% of the Eastern Hemlock in North America have been affected.
